Trapeze Dress from Heather Ross

I adore Heather's book, Weekend Sewing , I made this Trapeze Dress in 2 hours time! The pattern design was a little big for me but the pleats gave me the perfect place to take in the dress. I have seen this dress shortened to make a cute shirt. I love that idea for a wonderful summer top. After finishing it our family jumped into our jeep for a drive in the country with a stop at the ice cream shop up the road. My favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip! I hope you get a chance to try this fun project and others like it in Heather Ross' new book Weekend Sewing .

Weekend Sewing, Summer Blouse

Weekend Sewing, Summer Blouse Originally uploaded by Sew Spoiled I have bought many sewing books but Weekend Sewing just might be my favorite. I love the great pictures , templates for all of the projects and the online help on Heather's blog . My first project was the summer blouse . This is my thoughts on the whole project... First, I have to admit, before this project I hated this fabric! I could not see it on a bag, house decor., much less on clothing! I had even forgotten that I had this fabric in my stash all together. When I found out that I needed two yards of fabric I started searching and this is what I found at the bottom of my stash. For me, this project made me realize that every print has a place. Which means every piece a fabric can look right as long as it is matched up with the right pattern or project. Now I have started looking at the rest of my stash wondering what new directions I can go. Second, I learned about the placket , an opening in a garment! For me it

Weekend Sewing Book by Heather Ross

Weekend Sewing tracing Originally uploaded by Sew Spoiled I just bought this book this weekend and I can not wait!!!! I like the kid patterns (and at first that is why I got it) but in the book store I thumbed through it and the dresses and skirts are what sold me! There are over 40 projects! All with pattern templates however they are on top of each other, which brings me to my blog post... I wanted to trace the patterns but on what??? I am a teacher and any teacher will recognize the Chart Tablet in photo:) This 24"X32" paper is perfect for all your pattern tracing needs!!! I think I am also going to use this for other children patterns that I have so I can save all of the pattern sizes. As my girls get bigger, I'll just trace the next size. So I hope you get a chance to check out this awesome book, Weekend Sewing , by Heather Ross . Go ahead and pick up your favorite fabric and a tablet too, if you are out shopping:) Happy Sewing!!!

Sew Spoiled Ladybug Backpacks

Sew Spoiled Ladybug Backpacks Originally uploaded by Sew Spoiled OK;) I am still working on this project!! These turned out so well I wanted to share:) I was sew blessed because it rained all day however the sun was shining through my sewing room window the entire time. I am looking forward to making one more little backpack for my littlest out of these fabrics. I bought the fabric from Fabric Supplies at Etsy online . It is Monaluna by Jennifer Moore and her About Town and Mingle Lines of designer fabric, from the beautiful Spring Colorway. I thought the colors for this time of year would be perfect!

Interior Pockets

Peggy's Shoulder Bag Originally uploaded by Sew Spoiled If you love handbags, then you love pockets!!! I can never get enough!! In this bag I created a double layer of pockets so on the left side there are 4 slip pockets and then on the right one zipper pocket! It is also a great use of space because you can organize your purse! If you have any interior pocket secrets to share please write a post. :)

kids ladybug Originally uploaded by Sew Spoiled This is a sneak peek at the Sew Spoiled backpack pattern. It will be available in 2 sizes (Mommy and Kid) and include a zipper pull tutorial that makes the bag complete! I am hoping to have it in my store soon! I gave Emily her backpack this weekend and she has worn it all weekend long. It has been wonderful! I am no longer carrying her stuff too. She enjoys carrying her favorite Littlest Pet Shop toys along with her on any trip. ;)
