Sew Spoiled iPad Case

Here is a Sew Spoiled iPad Folding Case in Lilly Pultizer fabric for my niece. I am so proud of her graduating from high school and move on to her next adventure of college. I remember playing with her when she was only 3 years old and thinking how wonderful she was. I had no idea she would grow into the awesome young lady she is today. I hope she enjoys her new case. Happy Sewing!

Monogrammed Table Runner

Made this table runner with my sewing and embroidery machines working together. First I measured the length I wanted for the table runner, then I cut the fabric and placed markers where the embroidery design should go. After embroidering, I stitched it all together. Now I have a wonderful monogrammed table runner specially made for family gatherings.

Sew Spoiled Folding Cases

Sew Spoiled Folding Case is one of those patterns that you will use over and over again. Once someone sees the case you made yourself, another will ask if you will make a case for them. Once the case you made them is seen by others, they will start to ask for cases too. When I am purchasing a pattern, I think about the initial price but every time I use the pattern I divide the price by how many times I used it.  Example:  Dress Pattern cost $10.00 Made it twice: $5.00 Made it four times: $2.50 I think this way for fabric too. I try to use as much of it as I can for as many projects as possible. That is why I have made a Projects for Your Stash page .  Example: One yard was $20.00 I can make two cases, $10.00 each. I can make 6 cosmetic cases , $3.33.

Owl Cross-body Bag

My daughter and I put together this adorable cross-body bag from Ginger Cake Patterns , it is called Lola the Owl . I had her stitch everything together, so she could practice. She loves the size, perfect for a book and a few things on the go. There is even a pocket on the back for convenience.

Sew Spoiled Rose Pin Tutorial!

I woke up Wednesday morning and realized that it was St. Patrick's Day and I had no GREEN! (Did I mention I am a music school teacher to over 1000 kids!) I looked through my wardrobe once more, nothing. Finally, I decided to make my own Green for the day! 1.) I took a scrap of Patty Young's Gothic Flower in leaf green approximately 18" long X 3" wide I folded it in half, right sides together and ironed. ( Not really but you should if you have time:) 2.) Sew 1/4" seam allowance starting at the short end, pivot the needle to continue sewing the 18" long side and leave the last short side of the rectangle open so you can flip it right side out. 3.) Flip the fabric right side out and iron! ( I did iron th is time!)  4.) Sew a gather stitch down the 18" long side. This is the longest stitch on your machine! ( My machine calls it my baste stitch but I use it most to gather .) Tug gently on the bobbin thread to gather the petals together. 5.) Take your

Sally Dresses

I made these  Sally dresses by Very Shannon  this week. I love the fact that there are only two pages to print, to get started and no taping! That is a huge plus in he PDF sewing patten world. The dress has three sleeve versions and there is no buttons, zipper or closure to worry about. Just slip over the child's head and go. That is perfect in the busy mornings of getting up and going to work, school or to the pool this summer. I was worried about the sizing. If the collar opening is too big, the dress hangs off of the shoulders. If to small, the dress does not fit over the child's head. That is why I made a muslin bodice first to test the bodice out first. In both cases, I went with a smaller size than I normally would have. When reading this pattern look at the finished garment sizing. That helped us with the sizing. I can see this dress being in almost any color and type of fabric. We used what we had on hand mostly this pollen yellow fabric with accents of cotton pr

Customer Happiness!

I received this wonderful email last night from a customer. I love receiving emails from happy customers who are trying new things by following one of my sewing patterns. Here is what Tiffany wrote... Hi Leah, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed working with your Ladybug Diaper Bag pattern.  I had bought the Simplicity pack because I like the tissue paper instead of taping the pages, but I almost with I would've got the pdf too because I am a visual person and all the reviews of your patterns as far as directions are great. I finally got around to sewing my bag yesterday while my other kids were visiting their grandparents and it was daunting at first looking at all the different pieces to cut out and fuse together, but I am happy to say that after all the cutting actually putting the bag together was a breeze.  This was my first time attempting to do a zipper pocket and your directions were great-I got it on my first try :)!!!  I did add another elastic pocket

Embroidering Towels Tutorial

Materials: Towel (wash before embroidering) Tear away Interfacing Water Soluble Topper Thread Embroidery Machine Step 1: Hoop the tear away interfacing first. Step 2: Mark lightly where you want the embroidery design. For this design, I placed the "A", 10" from the bottom of the towel and in the center. Place the towel over the hooped interfacing. Smooth everything out and make sure the marking for the center of the design is under the needle. Then place the water soluble topper over the towel. Use a rectangle basting stitch to hold all three layers together. Step 3: Start the embroidery design. The topper allows the embroidery thread to be on top of the terry fabric's loops.  Step 4: Finish the embroidery design. You can see that my design was larger than the baste stitch, this is ok because at the end of the project we pick the basting stitches out, so we are left with only the design. Step 5: Tear away the back interfacing. The water

April Showers Embroider Umbrella Tutorial

Materials: Umbrella Rubber Bands Embroidery machine Tear-away interfacing embroidery design Step 1: Take the cloth off the umbrella. Leave the threads as markers so you will know where to sew it back at the end of your project. Step 2: Get your embroidery machine ready and select your embroidery design. I used tear away interfacing, at the end of your project you will be able to tear away the interfacing behind the embroidery design. Step 3: With rubber bands tie together the frame. When embroidering the frame should be away from the hoop. Step 4: Embroider the umbrella. Step 5: Tear away the interfacing. Step 6: Hand sew the frame back onto the frame. Ta Da! You are Done! Things I learned; You want to choose an embroidery design that is not high in stitch density. Have fun!
